The so-called Isolo (Island) was the site of many artisanal activities that exploited the water of the river's various side canals. With the construction of the embankments at the end of the 19th century, the bifurcation of the Adige was buried.
St. Thomas church has a single nave, the presbytery area is dominated by the imposing arches designed by Sanmicheli who, originally from Isolo, was buried inside the church.
Also famous is the magnificent Baroque organ on which a very young Mozart, a child prodigy, played during his stay in Verona. The young and "naughty" Mozart, engraved his initials "WSM"; (Wolfgang Salisburgensis Mozart) still visible on the golden wood of the organ.
